Introducing…our new Human Resources Manager
We are happy to introduce Tina Homer, who recently joined our team at Guardian Angel Carers HQ in Chichester as our HR Manager.
Tina brings 20 years of experience in the retail industry as both a human resources generalist and a human resources specialist. She was with Sainsbury’s for 18 years as an HR Cluster Manager covering five stores. Throughout this period of time, Tina was responsible for 1600 colleagues. She was also an HR Generalist, dealing with employee matters like performance, coaching, structure, labour, communication, pay and reward, benefits, and recruitment.
For the last two years, Tina was with LK Bennett London where she worked as an HR Business Partner (Retail) for UK and Ireland. Tina supported the administration whilst dealing with a wide variety of employee matters like redundancies, policies, handbooks, the closing of stores, performance, coaching, structure, labour, communication, pay and reward, benefits, and recruitment.
During the pandemic, Tina was made redundant, and she took the opportunity to think hard about what she wanted to do going forward in her career. She had volunteered to support the NHS, but was never called upon.
Tina knew at this time that she wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. She has a 95-year-old grandmother who recently spent some time in hospital due to a fall as well as a brother-in-law who had a stroke three years ago and now shows some signs of dementia. Tina’s son is blind and she knows first-hand that he has struggled for many years. All of these experiences with loved ones helped Tina decide that she now is the time to ‘make a difference’ and to do something very different with her career so that she can help and support people. When Tina saw that Guardian Angel Carers were looking for an HR Manager, she decided to apply for the position, and we are all so glad that she did.
Tina has lived in Chichester and the surrounding area all her life. She has two sons, Gary, 32, and Ben, 28. She adores her four amazing grandchildren. In addition to her large family, Tina has many friends who are all important to her. In her free time, Tina likes to have fun with activities like karaoke, taking holidays, diving, and spending time with her grandchildren. To unwind, she takes long walks, and she finds that going to the gym is sometimes challenging but always necessary. Just this year, Tina went sky-diving with her youngest son, Ben. She highly recommends this amazing experience to everyone! Next year, Tina hopes to go on the longest zip wire in the UK with her eldest son, Gary, who is blind. Feeling optimistic, Tina has already planned upcoming holidays, and she is most looking forward to returning to Mexico where she can swim with whale sharks.
Here at Guardian Angel Carers, we are so glad that Tina has come on board. She brings her passion for coaching to her role here, as well as her determination to give colleagues the right tools to do their jobs. Tina looks forward to learning more about Guardian Angel Carers and how she can support everyone else on the team. She offers a listening ear as well as any help or support she can provide.
Thank you, Tina, for all you do! We are so glad you are a part of the Guardian Angel Carers Team.
