We are proud to announce that Lucy Earle, who has been with Guardian Angel Carers since 2019, has recently been promoted to Senior Carer For Worthing Branch.

Lucy started with Guardian Angel Carers in 2019, a few months before the national lockdown in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Before working with us as a CareAngel, Lucy was a social worker for 16 years. She spent most of her professional time as a social worker with children and families. Prior to her social work career, Lucy trained as a mental health nurse, and her work history reveals Lucy’s passion for work that makes a difference to an individual’s life in direct and authentic ways.

As one of two Senior Carers, Lucy oversees the cell leaders and CareAngels in the regions of Bognor Regis and Chichester East. Though she is primarily office-based and working from home at the moment, Lucy appreciates the rare opportunities that come her way to visit clients. Care visits give Lucy the chance to offer clients the one-to-one attention that drew her to working with Guardian Angel Carers in the first place. When the time comes to work together again in an office setting, Lucy looks forward to the spontaneous communications that take place amongst colleagues sharing a workspace and a regular dose of in-person human connection.

Since changing careers, Lucy reports feeling very glad to have made the decision. Moving from social work to home care enables Lucy to carry on doing the work that means the most to her, while simultaneously ensuring that individuals are able to enjoy the best quality of life possible while living at home. As a former social worker, Lucy knows what it means to be able to stay in a place someone can call home. Every single day, Lucy is able to display deep empathy towards her fellow carers and their clients; she appreciates the fact that we will all need a helping hand at some point in our lives. As well, Lucy understands that care, much like social work and mental health work, is not one-size-fits-all. Meeting individuals where they are and empowering them are key to Lucy’s approach to her work as both a carer and as a Senior Carer in a supervisory role.

Though many in the UK live and work in isolation thanks to the safety restrictions in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Lucy finds that her work with Guardian Angel Carers is actually very uplifting. Fortunately for Lucy, and many other people in the care industry, her work ensures that she sees her colleagues and clients as regularly as possible and that continuity of care is assured. In this way, Lucy finds that she is fortunate to be able to put a positive spin on a difficult time.

In her free time, Lucy likes to unwind with a Playstation session or with some relaxation whilst reading. She also enjoys going for walks, and as her daughter is currently home from university, Lucy spends time with her as well as with Mr. Thomas Sykes, an elderly sweet-natured cat she is currently fostering.

Lucy’s first positive impressions of Guardian Angel Carers have strengthened over the last months, and she feels a sense of deep appreciation for her colleagues. In her words, she would be happy if any of the CareAngels with whom she works every day were taking care of her or her loved ones.

We feel the same way, Lucy! Congratulations on your promotion and thank you for all you do to empower our clients and ensure that their needs are prioritised.
