Spring is near – let’s go outside!

Residents of Spelthorne, Staines and surrounding areas can enjoy an array of natural beauty around them and many opportunities to get some fresh air. Breathe easy with a CareAngel by your side as you enjoy some safe and mood-lifting exercise, or let us accompany you if you prefer to use a motorised walking aid or wheelchair.

As stated by the UK government guidelines, we are all able to go outside for physical exercise in our local areas once a day. Though the term ‘local area’ is not a defined term, all of the places listed below are in the general vicinity of Spelthorne. If you aren’t sure how to interpret the term ‘local area,’ talk with your CareAngel or give us a ring.

For all of us in the Surrey area, we have many parks, lakes, countryside walks and paved walks within reach. Here are a few walks for you to explore with your CareAngel beside you. If you find you need transportation to reach your desired walk, all of our CareAngels have excellent driving records, so you can feel safe in their hands.

Painshill Park

Enjoy a scenic walk around the beautiful Painshill Park with one of our CareAngels. Not only is it a stunning location with miles of walking around the lake and grounds, but the recent Netflix sensation of Bridgerton was also filmed there. The park is dog friendly for dogs on short leads and includes picnic areas, a tea room, a gift shop and has free parking. The park has plenty of accessible walks for anyone in a wheelchair and also has disabled toilets available too. It is even free of charge for your companion to visit with you! Please note that tickets must be booked in advance.

Church Lammas Lake

Explore the beautiful walks around Church Lammas with miles of stunning lakes and views ahead. You can also begin your walk in the Lammas Recreation Ground and enjoy a stroll through the park up to the River Thames if you’re feeling up to it!

Staines Moor

Enjoy the wildlife and exquisite floral species with a quiet stroll through Staines Moor and enjoy bird watching by the River Colne which flows through the site. Staines Moor is one of three sites of special scientific interest in the Spelthorne Borough due to its important floral species, wintering wildfowl and waders.

Stanwell Village

Another easy and lovely walk is through Stanwell Village with some historical views along the way. Enjoy the views of St Mary’s Church, the war memorial and Lord Knyvett’s Hall with the company of one of our CareAngels. If you would like to explore Stanwell Village but worrying about the walking aspect of it, it’s wheelchair accessible so you can still enjoy the same experience from your wheelchair.

Stanwell Moor & Hithermoor Stream Walk

Enjoy a wonderful stroll which includes a mixture of the village, stream and Hithermoor lake itself. Take in the delightful views while getting some fresh air and having a good chat with one of our CareAngels.

Dumsey Meadow

Another brilliant and scenic walk is in Dumsey Meadow. As one of the three sites of scientific interest in the Spelthorne Borough, Dumsey Meadow is a great location to get some exercise. It is an area of grassland located on the floodplain of the River Thames. People will often see cattle and ponies there and the water is fresh enough for people to take a dip too!

Need any essentials? We are here to help.

With companionship services from Guardian Angel Carers home care agency, help is never far away. Many residents of Spelthorne and the local area are enjoying delivery services as well as click and collect services from local stores. This is also something that our CareAngels can facilitate for you. Our CareAngel companions can also help you with healthy meal planning from helping with your grocery list. Should you need any essential items picked up in the meantime, you can count on your care companion to help.

Supermarkets like Sainsburys, Waitrose, Tesco and other essential businesses are inspected regularly to ensure that they are Covid-safe. Let’s also not forget our furry friends and winged companions – even Pets at Home in Staines have click and collect services in place as well as a delivery service.

As well, all stores that are open for business during lockdown have installed adequate signage in place to let the public know what is needed to keep everyone safe. With these precautions in mind, you can ask your CareAngel to collect your essentials with confidence. We are always happy to help and when we must interact with others in the community, we will do everything in our power to ensure that your health and safety is our top priority.
