When a person needs support during the night, to provide respite and a good night’s sleep for a primary carer (whether that is a partner, family member or Live In carer).
To provide reassurance and peace of mind to a person who is feeling vulnerable and anxious at being alone overnight. This can often be the case following a fall, or hospital visit.
A CareAngel is required to be available and on stand-by throughout the care visit. They will assist you to bed, ensuring you are comfortable; attend where required during the night, such as assist with safely going to and from the bathroom or commode. The CareAngel will also be there first thing in the morning to help you get started with your day.
A CareAngel will assist with getting in and out of bed in the evening and morning. However, whilst you are sleeping, they too are expected to sleep, but may be disturbed up to twice during the night, which can be done with the use of a bell or monitor.
Note: for awake nights an armchair for the CareAngel to rest in should be provided in close proximity to the client. For overnight care a bed must be provided with a suitable alarm/monitor so that the CareAngel can be woken when required.
Overnight care can ease one’s anxiety about being alone at night but it also provides help in many other ways, like administering medication and providing regular help changing position in bed, particularly after an operation or injury. Overnight care can also contribute to better overall health by allowing you to rest through the night. Other benefits are having someone on hand for those living with progressive conditions such as dementia and giving extra peace of mind for your family or loved ones.
For many, it can be daunting to acknowledge that care is needed and finding reliable overnight care is sometimes the deciding factor in allowing people to stay in their own home (rather than considering residential care). Everybody has different requirements and each situation is unique, which is why our overnight care is tailored specifically to you. It may be that you or your partner wake up worried and disorientated – with a dedicated Guardian Angel, help is available at any time, providing assistance and companionship too. This means you or your loved one can stay in your own home – the place that is most comfortable for you and where you want to be.
In terms of recovery, good sleep is vital to our overall health and wellbeing, and is a time when mind and body can heal and recharge. Overnight care facilitates this process, providing a huge mental and physical boost.
Thank you so much Lou and Sharna, and the wonderful team of CareAngels you have caring for my Father. I feel so lucky that I found you when I did. My Father is a different man, so much happier (and safer!) thanks to all your support.
I just want to write and say thank you for all the wonderful work from you and your team in looking after my Wife over the last few weeks. I couldn’t have managed without you.
My Mother is so grateful to be back at home following her brief stay in hospital following her fall. Thank you to the support of Lou, Sharna and their team of merry helpers. What a relief to have Mum safely settled back at home prior to Christmas. Thank you.
Lou and Sharna, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for all the support in helping support me with Jim. I don’t know what I would have done without you. Thank you my Angels!
