Here in Worthing, as we emerge out of lockdown, we are looking forward to 2021 and looking to enjoy some much-needed Christmas cheer. 2020 has certainly been challenging, but a brighter future awaits when we can enjoy the company of our loved ones once again. In the meantime, businesses and members of our seaside community have been working hard to bring us some festive cheer, and here are some ideas for Christmas fun.
Be inspired by beautiful Christmas decorations
Still looking for the perfect Christmas garland? Try Poundland on Montague Street which has been well-stocked since September! As well, Christmas trees, live and artificial, can still be found at Findon Garden Centre, on Rogers Lane in Findon. This locally-owned garden centre is highly accessible for both wheelchairs and pushchairs. Their friendly staff are keen to lend a helping hand if you need any assistance loading your car or carrying your purchases. On your way home from shopping for decorations, take a detour down Saxifrage Way, where a group of neighbors have teamed up to create a Christmas light display of epic proportions. Together, they are raising money for the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance Trust. If you feel like you want to get out and about but need a little helping hand then our compassionate home care CareAngels are very familiar with town of Worthing and would love to assist you with getting out and about and most importantly into the festive spirit!
Looking for a festive activity to get you in the Christmas spirit? Follow these trails
The Worthing Toy Soldier Trail, hosted and installed by the Worthing Town Centre Initiative, invites participants to marvel at the 12 toy soldiers positioned around the town centre. Gather the names of each of the 12 and enter your name for a prize to be drawn on 23 December. At the same time, you can enjoy Worthing’s Christmas Tree Festival. This dramatic display of 8ft Christmas trees is located in the town centre. All 14 trees have been adopted and decorated by a local business or community group. Admire the beauty and creativity on display and vote for your favorite Christmas tree. And don’t forget to send a note to Santa and his helpers as Christmas approaches; Santa’s mailbox can be found on the corner of Montague Street and Montague Place.
Enjoy a Christmas shopping experience in the Worthing town centre
This festive season, the Wednesday market is returning to the Worthing town centre, just in time to give visitors the chance to enjoy the stalls before Christmas. Local residents and visitors can shop while enjoying Christmas music that will be broadcast in the town centre for everyone to enjoy. Festive Thursdays are also planned to ensure as many people as possible have an opportunity to shop for their loved ones.
If you find you’re feeling a bit low or stressed despite the Christmas cheer in the air, please know that assistance is available to you. These resources are in place, so please don’t hesitate to reach out for a supportive voice and helping hand if you need it.
