Kerry was recently nominated as the ‘CareAngel of the Year’ in Guardian Angel Carers’ recent national awards, in recognition of her compassion, empathy, and dedication not just to the clients she supports, but to her colleagues too.
Her manager Kayleigh Gilbert says, “Kerry joined our team a year ago and shone from the very beginning. Her warmth, kindness, and professionalism were immediately evident, and she quickly became a trusted and valued member of the team.”
“Kerry has become a mentor to new carers, guiding them with patience, encouragement, and genuine care, consistently going above and beyond to ensure both her clients and her fellow carers feel supported and valued.”
“She has helped to plan our ‘Golden Angels’ events, attended community events, approached companies for raffle prizes and brought her husband and family on board to help with events such as community fetes in the summer. She never hesitates to step up when needed.”
“Recently, when a team member was feeling worn out, Kerry quietly stepped in and took on her shifts without hesitation, just to give her colleague a break.”
“One particular client with severe mental health challenges had always refused outside care, but because of the trust Kerry built with him, she was able to make sure he was seen, listened to, and properly looked after. Another client called the office to say Kerry is on his ‘gold star list’ because he enjoys her company so much.”
“Kerry looks after the office team too. She is always finding ways to lift everyone around her. She truly embodies the spirit of a CareAngel.”
When asked what it means to her to be a ‘CareAngel’, Kerry says, “I like helping people. I like supporting them to live the best life they can with the extra bit of care they may need. I like supporting them to get back on their feet after being in hospital. To me, it’s a gift that we can give back.”
“My highlight this year has been seeing one particular client, who had very poor mental health and wasn’t able to leave his house, brighten up as we’ve built up a closer relationship.”
Kerry is currently planning a Christmas dinner with decorations and a present to take home for clients at a little Church Hall in Goring. “We’re looking forward to that and bringing as many clients as we can together.”
Celebrating Family. Recognising Carers.
“I’m so proud of Kerry, who has proven that she truly deserves the title of ‘CareAngel’,” says Vikki Craig-Vickers, managing director of Guardian Angel Carers.
“Christmas is a time to celebrate family, but for us, it’s also a time to ensure that our incredible CareAngels are recognised too.”
“As we approach the festive season, it’s also important to remember that January is a time when caring businesses such as us receive more enquiries than any other time of year. In spending more time together, family members often notice or realise that time has taken its toll and elderly relatives have become more vulnerable, more frail.”
Tracy Clarke Head of Operations for Guardian Angel Carers Worthing says: “We know that the vast majority of people in the UK would prefer to remain in their own home as they grow older. So we work closely with you and your loved ones to create personalised care plans that give clients as much independence as possible.”
Guardian Angel Carers provide home care, live-in, specialist and overnight care across the UK.
