Lynette Fushai is ‘CareAngel of the Year 2025’

Take Lynette Fushai of Guardian Angel Carers Eastleigh & Hedge End, a shining example of the kind of CareAngel whose compassion, kindness and professionalism takes the strain off families all year round.

Lynette, who has a degree in Journalism, was determined to build a career in care and showed remarkable resilience and dedication, demonstrating her ambition to become a Team Leader by enrolling in an NVQ Level 3 programme.

Clients soon began to compliment Lynette for her warmth, professionalism and support, such as one who said: “Hi Guardian Angels! I just want to say thank you for your help and support for us both. All the carers have been great, but we’d especially like to thank Lynette who has gone out of her way to bring a little bit of joy, so much appreciated.”

Because of her remarkable personal and professional progress, as well as her unwavering commitment to clients and colleagues, Lynette was recently named ‘CareAngel of the Year’ in November’s Guardian Angel Carers’ National Awards.

When she received the Award, Lynette said: “Being a CareAngel is bringing hope, love, care, for individuals in the comfort of their homes. And keeping or trying to keep a smile on their face and look forward to living.”

Like many people, Lynette first considered a career in care due to her own experience with a parent.

“When my dad was not feeling well, we couldn’t really afford to have someone care for him. So my mum and I took care of him and that’s when I felt the need to continue doing it for anyone who would need care.”

Now that she is a full-time, professional CareAngel, Lynette gets satisfaction from learning more and more about people, “seeing things from their perspective”, as she says, “not because I’m caring for them, but because they are also human beings and we can all learn things from each other.”

“I’ve learned to be a better communicator. I’m not usually a talkative person. But if I go to a person’s home and be quiet, it’s not something they’ll be looking forward to. So I enjoy engaging in conversations, to try and make them feel calm, to try and give the warmth that we’re talking about and just to connect with them, which is so important.”

“We meet different people, different personalities every day. What makes it lovely is just looking forward to growing with Guardian Angel Carers and looking forward to what each day brings.”

“Guardian Angel Carers say ‘A happy carer is a happy client’, and so they take their carers just as seriously as their clients.”

So what is Lynette’s Christmas wish for 2025?

“Just to make somebody happy on Christmas Day, put a smile on the face of someone who doesn’t have family visiting them over Christmas.”

Celebrating Family. Recognising Carers.

“I’m so proud of Lynette”, who has proven that she truly deserves the title of ‘CareAngel of the Year’,” says Vikki Craig-Vickers, managing director of Guardian Angel Carers.

“Christmas is a time to celebrate family, but for us, it’s also a time to ensure that our incredible CareAngels are recognised too.”

“As we approach the festive season, it’s also important to remember that January is a time when caring businesses such as us receive more enquiries than any other time of year. In spending more time together, family members often notice or realise that time has taken its toll and elderly relatives have become more vulnerable, more frail.”

Pascal Gaucher, co-owner of Guardian Angel Carers Eastleigh & Hedge End says: “We know that the vast majority of people in the UK would prefer to remain in their own home as they grow older. So we work closely with you and your loved ones to create personalised care plans that give clients as much independence as possible.”

Guardian Angel Carers provide home care, live-in, specialist and overnight care across the UK.
