Sarah Rowlands has Won the 2025 Award for ‘Enriching the Lives of Clients’

Take Sarah Rowlands of Guardian Angel Carers York, a shining example of the kind of carer whose compassion, kindness and professionalism takes the strain off families all year round.

Sarah won an Award recently at Guardian Angel Carers’ national awards as someone who has ‘enriched the lives of clients’ by arranging trips for them to places that are closed to the public.

When asked what it means to her to be a ‘CareAngel’, she replies, “It doesn’t even feel like working at times, especially when you can take a client out on a trip. It’s really all about the relationships that you build with people.”

“A lot of people that we work with don’t have any family or don’t have anybody there, so it’s just lovely having that kind of connection with people.”

Sarah describes one of her special moments of 2025. “I took a lady who hadn’t left her home for a year to a concert. She was very, very proud, she used to be a well-known musician. She’d had a bad fall and had ended up housebound. At first, she was quite dismissive with everybody, but I noticed from her books that she was very into history and the royal family, so I started talking about those things with her. That helped me to build a good relationship with her and, in the end, persuade her to come out with me. After that, we went everywhere and it didn’t really feel like working!”

Celebrating Family. Recognising Carers.

“I’m so proud of Sarah, who has proven that she truly deserves the title of ‘CareAngel’,” says Vikki Craig-Vickers, managing director of Guardian Angel Carers.

“Christmas is a time to celebrate family, but for us, it’s also a time to ensure that our incredible CareAngels are recognised too.”

“As we approach the festive season, it’s also important to remember that January is a time when caring businesses such as us receive more enquiries than any other time of year. In spending more time together, family members often notice or realise that time has taken its toll and elderly relatives have become more vulnerable, more frail.”

AJ Jane, co-owner of Guardian Angel Carers York says: “We know that the vast majority of people in the UK would prefer to remain in their own home as they grow older. So we work closely with you and your loved ones to create personalised care plans that give clients as much independence as possible.”

Guardian Angel Carers provide home care, live-in, specialist and overnight care across the UK.
