Hannah Bawden is ‘New to Care, Rising Star 2025’

Take Hannah Bawden of Guardian Angel Carers Farnham, a shining example of the kind of carer whose compassion, kindness and professionalism takes the strain off families all year round.

Hannah joined Guardian Angel Carers Farnham aged just 19 as a complete newcomer to care but quickly proved herself to be a natural. From her very first shadow shifts, she showed empathy, attentiveness, and a willingness to learn.

According to her manager Lauren Gee, “Hannah takes the initiative, asks thoughtful questions, and never hesitates to seek guidance to ensure the very best care for her clients. She’s already shown remarkable composure in challenging situations. Recently, she calmly and correctly responded to an emergency, calling the ambulance, updating the office, and fetching neighbours as requested, before continuing her round once she knew the client was safe and the family had been notified.”

“She even offered to visit afterwards in her own time and bake the client’s favourite cake, a small act that shows her kindness and commitment!”

“On another occasion, she supported a client with dignity and reassurance during a bypass episode, something that can be daunting for a new carer.”

“Her eagerness to learn, her compassion, and her dedication have helped her grow into a confident and capable carer, she consistently goes above and beyond. Hannah is living proof that age or experience are no barriers to providing excellent care.”

Hannah herself talks about the satisfaction of being a CareAngel, being there for clients at moments of crisis, and being recognised as a ‘Rising Star’, “Honestly, it’s so rewarding, it means a lot to be recognised like this. All of the angels are there for each other and can help you out if you need it. It’s lovely.”

This Christmas Hannah is planning some crafts activities with her clients and will help them make their own plans for Christmas, but, as she says, “If I have one wish it’s that they can spend time with their families at this time, because I know how much that would mean to them.”

Celebrating Family. Recognising Carers.

“I’m so proud of Hannah, who has proven that she truly deserves the title of ‘CareAngel’,” says Vikki Craig-Vickers, managing director of Guardian Angel Carers.

“Christmas is a time to celebrate family, but for us, it’s also a time to ensure that our incredible CareAngels are recognised too.”

“As we approach the festive season, it’s also important to remember that January is a time when caring businesses such as us receive more enquiries than any other time of year. In spending more time together, family members often notice or realise that time has taken its toll and elderly relatives have become more vulnerable, more frail.”

Tim Corry, co-owner of Guardian Angel Carers Farnham says: “We know that the vast majority of people in the UK would prefer to remain in their own home as they grow older. So we work closely with you and your loved ones to create personalised care plans that give clients as much independence as possible.”

Guardian Angel Carers provide home care, live-in, specialist and overnight care across the UK.
